Books & Pearls Still Life - Painting With Light
Painting With Light is the art form of using a handheld light to “paint” in a scene in an otherwise dark space while the shutter of a camera is left open for a long exposure photograph. This gives the photographer the ability to selectively illuminate areas of the scene by “brushing” on the light in strokes, similar to painting. It also provides control over the direction of the light source. Lighting at the right angle can bring out rich colors and textures, as you can see in the books in this photo. This was my first attempt at painting with light and I hope to explore this technique further.
